OnlyFans Retorts! They are NOT getting rid of Porn… At least not for now!

Can OnlyFans redeem their selves?
As we reported previously, the subscription service caused a stir when it announced that it would ban pornography in October 2021. It blamed their “banking partners” and “payout providers”. This was a controversial decision considering their reputation for NSFW content. Many sex workers protested the loss in income and began migrating to more welcoming platforms.

However, on Wednesday, the site reversed its decision and posted a new statement on Twitter. They wrote:
“Thank you everyone for making our voices heard.
We have received the assurances required to support our diverse creator community, and have halted the planned October 1 policy changes.
OnlyFans stands up for inclusion and will continue to offer a home for all creators.
Soon, an official communication will be sent to creators.”
Variety noted that the public exposure of the issue may have put pressure upon the “banking partners” (JPMorgan Chase and Bank of New York Mellon) who had cut off the site financially. The site may have had to rethink its ban after the backlash.
Many people continued to criticize the service’s handling the controversy. You can also find replies here:
Translation: You thought your business model could survive if you demonize sex workers. Instead of taking the PR hit, you realized that you had to back down. This isn’t 2005. Most people don’t view sex work in 2005 as dirty or shameful. It’s work. It was a bad idea to degrade them.
“No chance. You have proven that you are not only untrustworthy, but are willing to take millions of creators out a job + potentially dangerous [situations] FOR MONEY we didn’t even know about. PLUS, IM NOT F**KING MY FANS ALROUND already moved. Already done damage.
“Do you really believe that this will bring everyone back?” You’re wrong. If you’re thinking of returning to OF, think about it. They took our hard work and made their fame, then threw us to pieces. “No ty”

How will you make sure that this doesn’t happen in the near-future if we continue to use the site? What’s your plan and strategy to protect sex workers? This is the one that will make you a billion-dollar company.

Others pointed out that the specific language used to describe the policy change was “suspended”.
“SUSPENDED, but for HOW LONG? “
“The fact that they said’suspended,’ not ‘cancelled’ shows that they intend to pull it off again in the future.”
“Suspended ….not canceled ….
“Sex workers…proceed like we should have multiple streams income”
“They tried to onboard celebrities and other people to backfill us, but someone realized [sic] logistically it was a nightmare and they would lose money.”
Yes, it looks like OF is still in trouble with the very people who made their platform successful in the first place. Sex workers will hopefully find a home that values their work and keeps them safe online. OnlyFans should seriously consider reaching out to the community that they have hurt to make financial amends.
