We’ve seen Kristen Stewart looking like Princess Diana. But can she walk like her? Can she talk like her? Can she capture the essence and beauty of the people’s Princess? Here’s the first teaser trailer of Spencer, which officially unveils Stewart’s portrayal as Princess Di.
The biopic, which takes its title after Diana’s maiden surname, unfolds over three days as Diana decides to end her marriage to Prince Charles (Poldark’s Jack Farthing).
The teaser, which is soundtracked by a children’s chorus cover of Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day”, highlights the opulence surrounding Diana as it struggles with her unhappiness. It also features some dancing. Sally Hawkins and Stewart are seen on the beach. Stewart says that they know everything, while Diana responds, “They don’t.” Spencer, a film by Pablo Larrain (Jackie), and Steven Knight, Peaky Blinders creator, will be shown at the Venice Film Festival before being screened at TIFF. Stewart said to ET that it was a deeply meditative film. “This is a really poetic and internalized imagining of perhaps the heaviest three day’s before she does anything as gnarly like leaving the royal family.”
